The Notification History page allows you to find information on messages which have been sent through the Notify menu in Command.
Note: This page updates whenever refreshed or visited as more information is available to it.
For example, an SMS message may be not listed in any state at first and only get a confirmed status a few days after the message was sent (more on SMS status at the bottom of this page)
Pre-requisite: In order to view the Notification History you will need to have View Notification History enabled in your user permissions. Please refer to the Editing user permissions user guide or speak to your SafeZone Command administrator to give you access.
To access the Notifications History page:
1. Click on History -> Notifications
2. You will then see the screen below with the following key areas:
- Export All button to download an Excel summary of historical notifications
- Date and time filters, with the option to see "All Dates" via a checkbox
- "Workflow" and "Internal" filter buttons to show:
-
- Only automated notifications triggered by a workflow if that is selected
- Only notifications sent by direct user interaction in Command if "Internal" is selected
-
- A table of notifications sent including:
- Timestamps
- Sender name
- Recipients (User Group level)
- A summary of the message content and channels used
- A dropdown selector to amend how many rows of the table are shown on screen.
5. Clicking on a notification will open up the delivery report for that notification.
6. As shown in the screenshot above, the information contained in the delivery report displays:
-
- The sender and time the notification was sent
- Which notification group it was sent to
- The delivery methods for the notification and the progress of each method. If you have sent out a notification to a large number of users, you can revisit this at any time to see how the notification has progressed.
7. Under Notification Groups, you can see which user groups the notification was sent to. You can go to the user group page by clicking on the shortcut icon to the right of the group name.
For instructions on how to edit a user group, please see the guide on User Groups.
8. SMS Messages have additional reporting available which describes the nature of any failures. The categorization follows standard international SMPP protocols which are documented here: https://smpp.org/SMPP_v3_4_Issue1_2.pdf#page=130
In summary most common errors are:
- UNDELIVERABLE - The SMS was unable to be delivered - for instance when the number does not exist.
- EXPIRED - The SMS could not be delivered before the message validity expired - for instance if the phone was offline or out of signal for a prolonged period of time when the message was sent. Note: validity depends on the specific Mobile Carriers, these typically range from 24 to 72 hours
- UNKNOWN - An unknown error was returned from the SMSC - there are hundreds of SMSCs (Centers which dispatch SMS on network providers' behalf's) around the World and some may have different response protocols which don't match industry standards or may have experienced an error.
